Dr Susan Liautaud is Founder and Managing Director of Susan Liautaud & Associates Limited (SLAL), a boutique firm advising on complex ethics matters and resilience for leaders and organizations in the corporate, non-profit, academic, and governmental sectors internationally.

She serves as Chair of Council (board of trustees) of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and as Chair of the Stanford University Freeman Spogli Institute for International Affairs Advisory Council. She teaches cutting edge ethics courses at Stanford University. Susan is the author of The Power of Ethics and of The Little Book of Big Ethical Questions from Simon & Schuster.

She also founded a non-profit platform for innovative ethics called The Ethics Incubator. Susan serves on the Stanford HAI (Stanford Institute for Human- Centered Artificial Intelligence) and on SAP’s AI Ethics Advisory Panel. She also serves on several other boards and advisory boards, including: Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Board; Benevolent AI Board; Yale Divinity School Advisory Council; the American Hospital of Paris Board of Governors; Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières US Advisory Board (former Chair); and the French Ambassador’s Foreign Trade Advisory Council in the UK.

Susan is a member of The Council on Foreign Relations.

She previously served on the UK Cabinet Office’s Advisory Committee on Business Appointments (ACoBA), the Pasteur Institute board, and the UK Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation board.

Susan holds a PhD in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science; a Juris Doctor from Columbia University Law School; a M.A. in Chinese Studies from University of London School of Oriental and African Studies; a M.A. and two B.A.s from Stanford University. She speaks fluent French and Spanish, intermediate Mandarin, and Italian.
